Author Guidelines

The published manuscript is an original research result (no plagiarism), written in English using Word format, with single-spaced line spacing on A4 paper size, uses a 12-point font Times New Roman, employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses), in 2 columns Justify, 3 cm left margin, 2.5 cm other margins (top, right, bottom), 10 pages maximum, including tables, figures, images, and Appendices--not recommended.

iThenticate is adopted as the plagiarism detection software for article processing, to review the originality of manuscript and to commit with no plagiarism policy. Authors should review the Publication ethics.

MANUSCRIPT  SUBMISSION

Manuscript file must be uploaded to https://biovalentia.ejournal.unsri.ac.id after registration as an Author.

The manuscript is an original research result (no plagiarism). The submission must not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation must been provided in Comments to the Editor).

The submission file is in Microsoft Word, rather than RTF, OpenOffice, or WordPerfect document file format, less than or equal to 12 mb of file size.

Where available, URLs for the references should been provided.

The text is single-spaced, 10 pages maximum, A4 page size, 3 cm left margin, 2.5 cm other margins (top, bottom, right); uses a 12-point font Times New Roman; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); 2 columns Justify; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end/Appendices

The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic (references) requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

Authors must write 5 suggested reviewers (names and email addresses) in provided Comments to the Editor at the bottom of submission page. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

METADATA SUBMISSION

Title

Write title with CAPITAL letters for non-scientific names only.

For Example: THE EFFECT OF MAGNETIC FIELD EXPOSURE ON MEDIUM TO PROTEASE PRODUCTION BY Bacillus sp.

Author's Name and Institution

Write one author's name for both first name and last name, completed with the institution name.

For example: Sumardi Sumardi

Abstract

Copy and paste Abstract in English from MANUSCRIPT.

Keywords

Write 3-7 keywords, separated with semicolon (;)

References

Copy and paste References from MANUSCRIPT.

WRITING OF MANUSCRIPT

Original article present original and important major advance in biological sciences having wide research scheme and deep discussion of the findings. Full structure of the article consists of Title, Author’s Name and Institution, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Conflict of Interest, Acknowledgements,References, Appendices (see Manuscript Formatting Guide in details). The article could be written in paper size length of 10 pages or about 2500–4000 words.

GUIDE IN DETAILS (CONTENT AND FORMAT)

Title

It describes the manuscript contents briefly and obviously. Write title with CAPITAL letters for non-scientific names only (See Template in details).

For Example: THE EFFECT OF MAGNETIC FIELD EXPOSURE ON MEDIUM TO PROTEASE PRODUCTION BY Bacillus sp.

Author's Name and Institution

Write full name and the affiliates, address of the institution, as well as e-mail address. E-mail address only for the purposes of communication with the editor, and not included in the published manuscript for the convenience of privacy for the authors (See Template in details).

Abstract

Abstract is written in English, containing synopsis and research purposes, methods, results, conclusion and implication, consists of 200-300 words maximum. 

Keywords

Under the Abstract, write 3-7 keywords, separated with comma (,) (See Template in details).

Introduction

Consisting of background, can also be included brief review of relevant previous research and expected discoveries to be obtained. It as far as possible gives the importance of research, and explains to readers who do not master the problems (See Template in details).

Materials and Methods

Describing in detail, for example, where the material comes from, how to obtain, and so on. The equipments only are written which are specific and determine the research results; while the general equipments do not need to be written. The research procedure is described coherently and obviously. The methods of analysis and approaches must be explained (See Template in details).

Results and Discussion

It contains the description of research results which are described obviously and precisely. Tables and figures consecutively are numbered according to its position in the manuscript text. Photos must be clear, and if there are signs or numbers written on the photos must be contrasted with the photos color (e.g. white on blue, blue on white). Discussion is an explanation and interpretation of research results. It also must be explained about the advantages and disadvantages, constraints which arise in the research and the possibility of solutions.

Figure: Figure are combined with the title and explanation in Words file, and separately in jpeg/jpg format file as an original image (clear enough). Figure could be made in maximum width of 8.5 cm, numbers and title are written in 8 points (if needed, add measurement scale and arrows to point certain objects).

Statistical Figure: Every mean value could be given standard deviation. Microsoft Excel program could be used (no screenshoot figure) and it’s needed to give the raw data.

Table: Every mean value could be given standard deviation. Table titles could be concise. Notes on measurements, explanatory material, and other general information that applies to the whole table could be included as the first, unnumbered footnote and not in the table title. Numbers and table title are written in 8 points. Table could be in an editable file (See Template in details).

Conclusion

It contains the conclusions of the research and discussion written briefly and without further explanation (See Template in details).

Conflict of Interest

Authors, if any, should state the conflict of interest that there is no conflict of interest with any institution and/or any person related with the research and publication (See Template in details).

Acknowledgements

It is written at the end of the manuscript, at above References (See Template in details). 

References

It only contains the references referred to in the manuscript text and written in alphabetic sequence based on the initial letter of the name of the first author--if the author more than one person, integrated with ascending [number] before the initial letter of the first author’s name.

For Example:

Maximum number of references is two pages with minimum number 20 titles, at least 80% primary references (journal articles). References only list the published or accepted materials for publication, suggested using Reference Manager Program or Reference Tools.

The procedure for writing the References is as follows:

Journals, bulletins, and scientific journals (periodicals): author's name, year, title with sentence-style, name of periodicals (can be abbreviated), volume (number), the first and last pages of article (as minimum information).

The book contains a collection of manuscript (review) of many authors, and proceedings: author's name, year, title of manuscript with sentence-style and italic fonts, editor, book title, volume, publisher, place of publication, first and last pages of the manuscript (as minimum information).

Thesis or Dissertation: author's name, year, title with sentence-style and italic fonts (Master’s thesis/Doctoral dissertation), publisher, place of publication, and/or Retrieved from (as minimum information).

Accepted articles but unpublished yet could be sent as an appendices of manusccript. Personal communication, website, unpublished data could be incorporated in the text in parentheses (  ).

For Example:

... The proteolytic cleavage of a transmembrane protein leading to the release of an intracellular domain with BLAST search (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/blast).

Personal communication need to be written with the initials surname  of  the  source  accompanied  with  the  year of  the  statement. Authors would provide proof of the communication.

For Example:

... (Iskandar, 2018,  personal communication).

Appendices

Not recommended; but if needed, it consists of quantitative or qualitative information which complements the research results and discussion that reinforces conclusion of the research results. More recommended, all illustrations, tables, figures, images are included in the manuscript text, and there are no Appendices.

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Submission: 0.00 (IDR)
Authors are not required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.

Article Publication: 1000000.00 (IDR)
If this paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publications costs. Article Publication Fee is the BIOVALENTIA standard for e-journal accredited by authority of Arjuna (Accreditation of National Jounals) of Indonesia.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work. You should contact us to get an opportunity to waive each fee.
